The boats cover the locks twice, in Mała Rus and Ostróda, which besides the extremely captivating landscape characterizing the entire route is a great experience for every participant of the trip. On the route you can encounter protected species of birds, among them majestic white-tailed eagle, but also cranes, herons and grebes. Due to its natural and cultural values, the area was protected by law in the form of the Protected Landscape Area of the Elbląg Canal.
